Class Tuition
Our classes are take by a qualified and highly motivated team of instructors. Because Newcastle Dance Centre is family owned we are proud of our 'family' atmosphere. Many of our teachers were past pupils and some have been with us for more than 20 years.
We have seen past pupils bring their children and grandchildren back to us for training, which continues and strengthens the family connection! We feel that this close relationship between principals, instructors and pupils enables us to achieve a unique and friendly school!
We aim to keep our class at a reasonable size and where the class is large; more than one instructor would normally present.
Examinations can be taken in all forms of dance, singing and drama. We follow the syllabus of the Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association and the International Dance Teachers Association.
We offer group sessions (see our timetables) or if you wish to book a one-to-one session, with one of our instructors, we can accommodate you. Private group sessions are also available.
Below are just a few of the styles that are available to study at the Newcastle Dance Centre:
Nursery
Specially designed programme for children aged 3-5 years. The boys and girls can take informal assessments which is great foundation for future education and dance. Ballet, tap, singing, mime, and disco are included in these classes.
Ballet
The classic form of dance where technique, control, balance, poise, and suppleness are paramount. Ballet is the foundation of all dance !!
Tap
Talking with the feet!!
A fun style where the feet and ankles are the focus - beats and rhythmic tones are created with the tap shoes. This can be taken socially or to an advanced level following a disciplined syllabus.
Theatre Arts
'West End' and 'Broadway' style acting, singing and dance! It is performed to many styles of music such as jazz and musical theatre. Technique and disciplines are a must and are applied to the varying themes of this music.
Disco/Freestyle and Hip Hop
This is a modern dance style which originated in 1978. It is a free and fun dance which is great exercise. It is energetic and performed to modern pop and R&B music.
Latin American and Salsa
Normally a couples dance but can be done solo. Dances include Cha cha cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive. It's great fun and includes diverse speeds and moods of music.
